Hiking Walden Ponds Habitat Trail

Waldon Ponds Wildlife Habitat Trail

Walden Ponds Wildlife Habitat is a 102-acre Boulder County, Colorado park. It was reclaimed between 1974 and the 1990s from an open-pit gravel mine on the site, and is named after Walden "Wally" Toevs, the Boulder County Commissioner who spearheaded the plan to convert the gravel pits into a wildlife habitat. There are 3.5 miles of trail at Walden Ponds, including the Heatherwood Trail. Hikers will find several possible loops and routes at Walden, with the shortest being less than one mile. Our hike will be approximately 2.4 miles. We will begin at 9:00 AM from the Walden Toevs parking lot. It is the first parking lot on your right after turning onto Waldon Pond Road from Hwy 75.  The trails are flat with virtually no elevation gain.
