Hall Ranch Hike - Bitterbrush Trail
We will meet at the Hall Ranch Trailhead at 9:00 AM to hike an out and back section of the Bitterbrush Trail. The Bitterbrush Trail begins at the Hall Ranch main trailhead. The trail rolls gently through open grassland for approximately 0.7 miles and then climbs steeply up switchbacks. It levels on a high ridge overlooking an expansive meadow (2.0 miles : 6,151'). This is the best spot to turn around. The out and back total miles for the hike is approximately 5.5 miles.
Dogs are not permitted on any trail within Hall Ranch.

Hall Ranch in Lyons, Colorado:
From Boulder, take Highway 36 north to the Highway 66 junction in Lyons, CO. Turn left. Highway 66 will dead end at a "T" intersection on the west side of Lyons. Take a left on Highway 7 towards Allenspark. Hall Ranch is located 1.4 miles on the northeast (right) side of Highway 7.

Parking at the trailhead can accommodate 64 cars
There are no formal arrangements for carpooling. Check the registrant list for potential carpoolers.
Come Prepared:
Make sure to dress accordingly. It can be very windy and cold at Hall Ranch. Please come prepared with appropriate hiking clothing, gloves, boots/shoes, hiking poles, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks, sandwich and bring plenty of water.
Depending on the weather conditions, you may want to bring ice trekkers in case of ice on the trail.
Safety precautions:
Please keep your car doors locked and your car windows rolled up at all times while leaving your vehicle parked at OSMP trailheads. Also consider leaving important valuables at home or take them with you while visiting open space.
For safety purpose it is a requirement that if you wish to turn back you must tell one of the coordinators and have a buddy to accompany you. (never just leave the group).
