LIFE, ANIMATED His Imagination Unlocked An Amazing New World Event hosts: Nancy and Charlie Erdrich Kathi and Wayne Grider bncdocumentaries@gmail.com Our next award-winning and critically-acclaimed documentary film is "Life, Animated", an Academy Award Nominee for Best Documentary Feature in 2017. Life, Animated tells the inspirational story of Owen Suskind, a young man who was unable to speak as a child until he and his family discovered a unique way to communicate by immersing themselves in the world of classic Disney animated films. This emotional coming-of-age story follows Owen as he graduates to adulthood and takes his first steps toward independence. Critics' comments: - An intimate tale of triumphs and setbacks, but also a story of tremendous consequence. - Doesn't try to give a cure-all to autism. It shows how one family approached the complex puzzle with the help of Simba, Sebastian and Lumiere. - There are moments of joy, revelation, connection, sadness and hope, and the film is very, very moving. - As much a story about a family as it is an individual's tale ... shows what the power of love, and a lot of help, can achieve. Please note that this month’s film will be shown in the Boulder Creek Meeting Room in the main Boulder library (our usual location). Parking is available in the library lot. The first 90 minutes are free; an additional 90 minutes may be purchased for $1.25/hour. If you need to park longer than 3 hours, please park in a public parking garage or do street parking nearby to avoid a ticket. A bus stop is close by at Broadway and Arapahoe. And be sure to sign up separately for the happy hour/dinner, following the film, at The Med located on Walnut (a short walk from the library) - this is listed as a separate event on the BNC calendar. We will see you at the library on Wednesday, March 6!
