White Rocks Nature Preserve Hike
Our hike will start at 9:30 AM from the North Teller Lake Trailhead. We will hike north of Valmont Road in the White Rocks Nature Preserve. The hike is approximately 4.7 miles out and back on dirt path and road with some elevation.
Description:
The trail extends west along Valmont Road for approximately 1/4 mile where it turns north, crossing Valmont Road, and enters the White Rocks Nature Preserve.
(**Please note that all visitors must stay on trail in the White Rocks Nature Preserve since it is a Habitat Conservation Area.) The trail enters the White Rocks Nature Preserve - Lower Boulder Creek Conservation Area and skirts a large pond home to a diverse waterfowl population. It continues over South Boulder Creek to the base of a ridge comprised of the eponymous white rocks and forks. The trail narrows and begins a moderate climb with panoramas of Boulder's front range.

Directions:
From Boulder take Hwy 7 (Arapahoe Road) east, past Valmont Reservoir. Make a left (north) on N. 75th Street, and turn right (east) on Valmont Road. The trailhead is on the south side (right) of Valmont between 75th and 95th streets, about 2 miles east of 75th street.
Parking and Carpooling:
Parking is available at the North Teller Lake trailhead.
There are no formal arrangements for carpooling, but it is always a good option – check the registrant list for potential carpoolers.
There are No restroom facilities at the trailhead.
Dogs are not permitted north of Valmont Road in the White Rocks Nature Preserve.
Come Prepared:
Make sure to dress accordingly. It may be chilly and windy. Wear appropriate hiking clothing, boots/shoes, hat, and bring sunglasses, sunscreen, snacks, and water.
During winter months trails may have patches of ice and you may want to include your ice trekkers.
Safety precaution:
At anytime during the hike you may turn back. For safety purpose it is a requirement that if you wish to turn back you must tell one of the coordinators and have a buddy to accompany you. (never just leave the group).
Please keep your car doors locked and your car windows rolled up at all times while leaving your vehicle parked at OSMP trailheads. Also consider leaving important valuables at home or take them with you while visiting open space.
