Sharing Your Bearings: Staying Safe in Colorado's Mountains

June SYB2019

Presented by Dick Smith

One of the joys of being a Newcomer in Boulder is exploring the mountains.   While beautiful, it is also important to approach our adventures with safety in mind.

Dick Smith, experienced backpacker and camper, will share his insights into how we can stay safe, while still having a great time.  He will cover important topics, including:
- Trip planning
- First Aid basics
- Recognizing and avoiding altitude sickness
- Creating a communication plan
- Avoiding getting lost
- Selecting the appropriate clothing
- Anticipating weather
- Correctly responding when encountering wild animals.

Please join us for this very important Sharing Your Bearings!
