Ceran Saint Vrain Trail

Ceran Saint Vrain Trail is a 3.5 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Jamestown, Colorado that features a river and is good for all skill levels. The trail is accessible year-round. Dogs and horses are also able to use this trail.The easy Ceran Saint Vrain Trail follows the South Saint Vrain Creek downstream for 1.9 miles. The trail ends at National Forest System Road 252, a rough four-wheel drive road. This road climbs 0.5 miles northwest to a four-way intersection from which it is a steep half-mile to the left up to Miller Rock. Miller Rock is a scenic high-point that offers 360-degree views.The hike is a beautiful walk through the forest with minimal elevation gain, but some areas of moderately rocky/uneven footing. Shade is plentiful throughout.

The trail is named for Ceran St. Vrain (1802 - 1870), a fur trader, politician and settler who established several trading posts and military forts along this creek. There are no formal arrangements for carpooling, but it is always a good option – check the registrant list for potential carpoolers.

Directions:

We will meet at the trailhead at 9:00A.M. From Boulder, head five miles north on US Highway 36 towards Lyons. Turn west onto Lefthand Canyon, signed for Ward and Jamestown. Five miles west, follow the right fork for Jamestown. Continue on this road through Jamestown. Once the road changes from paved to gravel, look for the Ceran Saint Vrain Trail Head sign in approximately 0.5 miles.

Please make your own car pool arrangements from the list of registrants. Make sure to dress accordingly, use sunscreen, and bring plenty of water and a snack.
