Welcome to the Boulder Newcomers Club website!

BNC is a volunteer-run, non-profit social organization with nearly 400 members. We are a very active club, with over 30 events per month, ranging from Member Mingles to fun hikes on the beautiful trails around Boulder. We join to make new friends and have fun together while learning about our communities. We are couples, singles, empty nesters, working people, and retirees who are new to Boulder County. Feel free to explore our website! Take a look at our schedule on the monthly calendar; watch our slideshow of members making friends. If you have lived in Boulder County for three years or less, and decide we are a good fit for you, please see our instructions below for how to join the club. We look forward to making friends with you, too.

Sincerely,

Tom Ortwein, BNC President

December 2025

Thanksgiving weekend is coming up and in addition to the usual festivities like turkey trots and football rivalries, remember that Thursday 11/27 is preview day and Friday 11/28 is registration day. You’ll see a few changes in the December calendar that reflect responses we received in the member survey. You spoke and your volunteer team listened.  There will be more to come in the coming months.

People have been very enthusiastic about the Social Bike Rides, Golf Scrambles, and Social Pickleball experiences. This month will feature our first SOCIAL WALKABOUT at Teller Farms, a joint BNC/BNCE SOCIAL SKI DAY at Eldora, and another SOCIAL PICKLEBALL event at Relish in Louisville.

Back by popular demand is the joint BNC/BNCE Guy’s Beer Knights- same time and same place!

There is also a wonderful concert this month with THE BOULDER PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA featuring Violinist Alex Gonzalez at the First United Methodist Church.

People have asked why we updated the BNC Bylaws. The Board's review aimed to reorganize the document for better clarity and simplicity, addressing inconsistencies and removing redundancies.  One of the key substantive changes is the addition of a new section recognizing Emeritus Membership (Article III, Section 10). Additionally, minor adjustments were made to enhance clarity, such as changing "Appointed Officers" to "Advisors" and removing references to the maximum number that can be appointed.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tom Ortwein

BNC President
